Experience
Experience levels across the UX discipline experienced a decrease, with Lead roles seeing the most decline at -17% year-on-year. On the other hand, Midweight roles witnessed a slight increase of +1% year-on-year.

Contract Length and Bookings
Across the UX discipline, contract lengths exhibited a decrease, with freelancers securing contracts for an average of 35 working days (7 weeks), marking a -9% year-on-year decrease. However, the top 10% of contracts saw a positive increase of +7%, with an average length of 90 working days (18 weeks).
In the UX discipline, most experience levels saw a decline in contract lengths, particularly Lead roles with the highest decrease of -15%. Conversely, Midweight roles experienced a positive increase of +6% in their average contract lengths and day rates.
Although UX bookings witnessed a -25% decrease in 2023, there was a noticeable pickup in demand within the second half of the year with both June and September being the highest booking months of 2023.
Roles
UX Architects earned the highest average rate across UX, earning £525 per day. UX Designers secured the longer contracts at 63 working days.
